How Aspire handles your data
Your Aspire budget lives in a Google Sheet in your Google Drive. Aspire does not ask for your bank username or password, and it does not maintain a persistent connection to your financial accounts.
Your budget and transactions
The free add-on and desktop Turbo features process your budget inside Google Apps Script so they can update the Sheet you are using. When you use Aspire Mobile, Aspire's API reads the linked spreadsheet through Google's Sheets API and processes the ranges needed to display your budget or complete changes you request, such as adding a transaction. Aspire does not keep a server-side copy of your spreadsheet contents or transaction history.
You remain in control of the Google Sheet. You can copy it, export it in formats supported by Google Sheets, share it using Google Drive permissions, or remove the add-on.
No bank connection required
Automatic bank-feed services can use either bank-hosted authorization or credentials provided to a financial-data aggregator. In either case, they maintain ongoing permission to retrieve account data.
Aspire takes a different approach. Enter transactions yourself or download a CSV from your bank and import it with Turbo. Aspire never needs your banking credentials or ongoing access to your accounts.
Google account access
The Aspire Budgeting add-on runs within Google Workspace and requests Google permissions needed to read and update the Aspire Sheet you are using. Google handles your Google identity and the storage and sharing of your spreadsheet.
Aspire Mobile asks you to link a specific Aspire spreadsheet from the desktop sidebar. The link stores the spreadsheet identifier, name, locale, and linking account email. Mobile does not search or list the files in your Google Drive. After you sign in, Google authorizes the Aspire API to read and update Google Sheets accessible to that account. Google refresh tokens are encrypted at rest, and you can unlink the spreadsheet or revoke Google access.
Turbo subscriptions and Polar
Turbo uses Polar to manage subscriptions and billing. Starting the 30-day trial requires a payment method. Unless you cancel, the trial automatically converts to a $5 monthly subscription, plus applicable taxes.
Polar handles billing and subscription information. Polar does not receive your Aspire transaction history through Turbo.
Diagnostics and website analytics
Aspire may record limited technical information needed to diagnose add-on and CSV-format problems, such as column headers, row counts, detected delimiters, and redacted format patterns. It does not log merchant names, transaction descriptions, account numbers, or spending details.
The Aspire marketing website uses Google Analytics. Analytics are not installed inside the Aspire add-on. Read the Privacy Policy for retention, cookies, support correspondence, and your privacy rights.
